The purpose of this website and its accompanying paper are to critically analyze geopolitical responses to the Arab Spring. By looking at the activities at Tahrir Square as a case study for understanding the nature of these protests and analyzing and interpreting the rhetoric and strategies of the American statements and policies responding to the protests we intend to demonstrate the way a global power constructs new geopolitical codes in 2012. Additionally, by considering, comparing, and contrasting the responses of various foreign governments as well as those of global media outlets we intend to problematize the notion of geopolitical codes and the ways they are created.
